When a roof replacement makes sense

Most roofs in the Atlanta area do not fail all at once. They wear out shingle by shingle: granules wash into the gutters, tabs lift in the wind, and small leaks show up around chimneys and valleys. A roof replacement makes sense when repairs keep coming back, when storm damage covers a large part of the roof, or when the shingles are near the end of their life.

We start every roof replacement with an inspection so you know whether you actually need one. If a repair will do the job, we will tell you.

What a full roof replacement includes

  • Tear-off of the old shingles and underlayment down to the decking
  • Inspection of the decking, with rotted boards replaced before anything goes on top
  • New underlayment, drip edge and flashing around chimneys, walls and pipes
  • Architectural shingles and ridge caps installed to the manufacturer's specifications
  • Ventilation checked so the new roof is not cooked from below
  • Cleanup of the yard and driveway, including a magnet sweep for nails

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most single-family homes are finished in one to two days once the materials are on site. Larger or steeper roofs, and rain delays, can add time. You will get a schedule with your quote.

Do I need to be home during the roof replacement?

No. We need access to the outside of the house and the driveway. It is loud, so many owners plan to be out for the day.

Will insurance pay for my roof replacement?

If the roof was damaged by a covered event like hail or wind, your homeowners policy may cover some or all of it. Normal wear and age usually are not covered. We document the damage with photos so you and your insurer can decide.
